Marinerong Pilipino secures playoff spot, stretches streak to six with win over Gamboa-St. Clare

MARINERONG Pilipino stretched its win streak to six and formalized its entry into the playoffs with a 99-83 win over Gamboa Coffee Mix-St. Clare in the PBA D-League Aspirants' Cup on Tuesday at the JCSGO Gym in Cubao.

The Skippers took a 31-16 lead and held on for their sixth straight victory.

Marinerong Pilipino improved its win-loss record to 7-2.

"We're on a roll and we want to keep on rolling going to the playoffs. Hopefully we can bring this winning attitude to our next games," said Marinerong Pilipino coach Koy Banal.

Billy Robles led Marinerong Pilipino with 19 points, two rebounds and three assists.

Alvin Pasaol had 12 markers, while Rian Ayonayon and Manuel Tolentino chipped in 12 each.

With a 5-4 card, Gamboa Coffee Mix-St. Clare now share sixth spot with Zark's Burger-Lyceum.

Aris Dionisio paced Gamboa Coffee Mix-St. Clare with 17 points and 10 rebounds.

Trevis Jackson and Chris Bitoon had 13 points each, while Mohammed Pare posted a double-double of 13 markers and 20 boards.
