DAVAO CITY - It's understandable that Francis Escandor is fast emerging as Davao’s most dominant big man in the high school ranks.

Once the 6-1 forward of Ateneo de Davao University is in a zone, he's simply hard to stop.

The vastly-improved Escandor waxed hot for the second straight game as Ateneo de Davao blasted Ford Academy of the Arts, 91–63, at the close of the 13th Gaisano Grand Cup Juniors Division elimination round at the Gaisano Skygym over the weekend.

Escandor, slowly blossoming into a bright collegiate prospect, came through with 20 points to spearhead Ateneo’s domination of Ford.

Flashy guard Lawrence Angeles chipped in 19 baskets while quarterback Jethro Taculin added 13 for the Junior Blue Knights, who closed out the elimination round with a four-game winning streak.

John Requillo scored 19 points to pace Ford, which will likely take the last Final Four ticket.

Ateneo shared the top spot with its lone conqueror Jose Maria College Junior Kings and arch-rival Holy Child College of Davao Reds at the end of the classification round on 5–1 records.

The quotient system, however, dropped the Junior Blue Knights to the third spot, setting the stage for a final Four showdown with second seed Holy Child.

The Reds will enjoy a twice to beat privilege along with top-seed JMC.
