FEU-NRMF defeats EAC Generals to rule MBL Second Conference
Powerhouse FEU-Nicanor Reyes Medical Foundation wins a title in its first year in the MBL.

FEU-NRMF-Gerry's Grill claimed the MBL Second Conference title, beating Emilio Aguinaldo College, 103-83, on Wednesday at the EAC Sports Center in Ermita, Manila.

Christian Manalo came up with 22 points and Cray Crellin had 19 for FEU-Nicanor Reyes Medical Foundation.

Nigerian center Bright Akhuetie scored 17 and former PBA player scored 15 points to help FEU-NRMF win a title in its first year in the MBL.

Gaco took his younger EAC defenders to school with his veteran moves in and around the shaded area.

One of the crowd favorites, Gaco scored 10 points in the second half as FEU-NRMF thwarted repeated rallies by EAC.

FEU-NRMF manager Nino Reyes and coaches Pido Jarencio, Bonnie Tan and Beaujing Acot received the championship trophy from former PBA coach Arturo Valenzona.

"Thank God we're the MBL champions now. The players really worked hard for it," said Reyes.

EAC, which is preparing for the next NCAA season, finished with a 5-3 win-loss record in the MBL. supported by Smart Sports, Ironcon Builders, Star Bread, Dickies Underwear and Gerry's Grill.

Sidney Onwubere led the way as the Generals surpassed their fourth-place finish in the MBL First Conference last May.

Philippine Air Force placed third.
