KENNETH Yap powered Filipino-Chinese Veterans Basketball Association’s (FCVBA) romp over Meteor, 68-55, on Friday in the finals of the 25th Asean Veteran Basketball Tournament 60-above division at the Chiang Kai Shek College Gym.

A former star of the La Salle in the late 1970s, Yap led the team with a double-double of 24 points and 17 rebounds along with two steals and two blocks in the championship game to complete the sweep of the FCVBA cagers.

Former University of the East cager Julio Cruz had a near double-double of 11 points and nine rebounds, while Noli Banate and Johnny Chua had eight points each for the FCVBA squad.

Andrew Ongteco had four points and seven assists, while Freego’s Eduard Tio had three points, two rebounds, and one assist in the tournament sponsored by Freego Jeans, Philippine Airlines, Rain or Shine, and Ironcon Builders, with Edster Sy of Headstart Sports Academy as chief organizer.
