Alex Diakhite shows way as Diliman College beats University of Sri Lanka to top Malaysia tournament
Alex Diakhite comes up with a huge double-double to lift Diliman College to victory.

AFRICAN import Alex Diakhite had 24 points and 17 rebounds as Diliman College beat University of Sri Lanka, 65-39, to rule the 2017 Universiti Teknologi Mara basketball championship in Selangor, Malaysia.

Rickson Gerero scored 14, while Joseph Brutas added 10 points for the Blue Dragons.

Diliman College beat University of Indonesia, 73-35, in the semifinals behind the 18-point 12-assist effort of Kristopher Torrado.

"We played as a team and succeeded as a team," said Diliman College coach Rensy Bajar.

"Our players did very well in this international tournament. They followed our game plan and performed their roles to the hilt," said Bajar, who also guided Diliman College to the UCBL invitational and Fr. Martin Cup titles.

Diliman College, owned by former Sen. Nikki Coseteng and backed by Gerry's Grill, also beat University of Malaysia, 113-35, and Bangkok University, 65-44.
