Diliman College, Colegio de San Lorenzo eye second straight wins in UCBL

DILIMAN College and Colegio de San Lorenzo hope to follow up their big wins in the opening week when they take on separate rivals on Monday in the Universities and Colleges Basketball League Season 2 action at the Olivarez College gym in Parañaque City.

Coming off a pulsating 67-65 victory over the Technological Institute of the Philippines Engineers, the Blue Dragons collide with the University of Batangas Brahmans at 2 p.m.

Olivarez and UB dropped their opening game assignments.

The Brahmans suffered a stinging 89-86 loss to the Bulacan State University Gold Gears in the season opener.

Diliman College import Adama Diakhite was impressive in his debut the last time, posting 33 points, 16 rebounds and four blocks – all game-highs –while scoring the game-winning turnaround hook shot against the Engineers to the delight of the Blue Dragons faithful.

Diliman College coach Rensy Bajar can also count on Rickson Gerero, Joseph Brutas and Rey Bauzon.

The Griffins and Sea Lions clash at 12 p.m.

The Griffins made quick work of newcomer Lyceum-Batangas, 112-77, on Saturday, but coach Boni Garcia admitted he is not expecting things to get any easier against their rivals who will enjoy homecourt advantage.

Out to lead the Griffins are Jon Gabriel, Raymart Sablan, Rustom Borja, Louie Vargas and African import Soulemane Chabi Yo.
