Bright Akhuetie rises up for the slam for the unbeaten Fighting Maroons.

DIEGO Dario contributed 18 points as University of the Philippines completed a sweep of the 2017 Republica Cup college division elimination round with a 111-64 victory over Arellano on Monday at the Malolos Sports and Convention Center.

Bright Akhuetie added 15 points, while Javi Gomez de Liano chipped in 14 markers for the Fighting Maroons, who will take the top-seed in the semifinals with a 5-0 win-loss record.

The Maroons dominated from the start, taking control with a 26-10 first-quarter lead, and were never seriously threatened in the match.

UP also had a balanced scoring attack in the second quarter, that saw the Maroons outscoring the Chiefs, 30-19. State U later showed its defense, limiting Arellano to nine points in the third for a lopsided win.

Archie Concepcion finished with 11 points for the Chiefs, who dropped to 1-3 and in a tie for AMA in the race for the fourth and final spot in the semifinal round.
