CARL Tamayo had 16 points and eight rebounds as National University beat Bacolod Tay Tung High School, 81-63, on Monday in the first round of the NBTC National Finals at the Mall of Asia Arena.

The eighth-seed Bullpups arranged a Sweet 16 match against No. 12 Adamson on Tuesday at the Mall of Asia Arena.

At the Cuneta Astrodome, Harvey Pagsanjan had 35 points, seven rebounds, and three steals as Hope Christian High School beat St. Benilde-Laguna, 85-77, on Pagsanjan was coming off a 33-point outing in the seeding round for the No. 9 Hope Christian High School, which will face No. 8 Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu in the Sweet 16.

Over at the Palm Coast Manila, Joshua Marcos had 28 points as No. 2 La Salle Greenhills beat Jesus The Loving Shepherd Naga, 85-46.

The Greenies will face No. 18 Lyceum-Cavite in the Sweet 16.

In other matches at the Mall of Asia Arena, Jancork Cabahug had 25 points and eight rebounds as No. 4 University of the Visayas won over University of Luzon Dagupan, 100-73.

UV goes up against No. 13 FilAm Sports-USA in the Sweet 16.

Justine Sanchez had 21 points as No. 7 San Beda defeated No. 26 Don Bosco-Dumaguete, 105-40. The Red Cubs will face San Sebastian in the next round.
