Batangas reaches MPBL finals after completing semis sweep of Valenzuela

BATANGAS City defeated Valenzuela, 89-64, on Saturday night to advance into the finals of the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League Anta-Rajah Cup at the Muntinlupa Sports Center.

Five players scored in double figures for Batangas led by Val Acuna, who had 16 points including four triples as the  Athletics swept the best-of-three semis series against the Classic.

Lester Alvarez had 15 points, while Bong Quinto and Moncrief Rogado added 14 and 12, respectively for the Athletics.

Batangas City will face either the Muntinlupa Cagers or the Paranaque Patriots in the finals.

The Cagers whipped the Patriots, 84-59, in Game Two to force a rubber match on Tuesday at the Muntinlupa Sports Complex.

Dave Moralde had 16 points, while Felix Apreku had 13 points and 11 rebounds for the Cagers.
