Victor Berjay, JG Gomez post double-doubles as Batang Gilas eases past Brunei in Seaba Under-16 cagefest

BATANG Gilas put up token resistance on the defensive end but the firepower still proved too much for a young Brunei squad, 113-31, on Saturday in the Seaba Under-16 Championship at the Xavier University gym in Cagayan de Oro City.

The Filipinos were in control right from start, scoring 42 points in the first quarter en route to their third win in as many games.

Brunei could only score three points in the first period, the lone basket hit by Tristan Jared Lai Yung Chee, the youngest player at 14.

The Filipinos secured a berth in the Fiba Asia Under-16 Championship following its win over Thailand on Friday.
