BATANGAS City - Terrence Romeo and Arwind Santos were quick to patch things up after an altercation late in Gilas Pilipinas' 152-149 win over the Luzon All-Stars in the PBA All-Star Weekend on Friday at the Batangas City Sports Center.

The fight, a rarity in the midseason showpiece, started after Romeo, thinking he had been intentionally hit with an elbow by Santos after a drive, retaliated by sneaking in a hit to the SMB star's bread basket,  resulting in technical fouls for both players at the final 4:25 mark.

Romeo, however, took the first step to apologize.

"Nagkabiglaan lang siguro kasi alam mo naman, may mga biglaang reaction," said Romeo, who was named the All-Star MVP after firing a record-setting 48 points to go along seven assists.

"Pag-lay-up ni Kuya Arwind, nasa ilalim so medyo na-feel ko na nabagsakan ako ng siko, so parang biglang instinct lang na ayun," he added. "Pero wala sa akin."

Romeo said that he quickly apologized to his fellow Far Eastern University alum.

"Hindi ako galit kay Kuya Arwind. Actually lumapit nga ako, sabi ko, 'Pasensya na, Kuya Arwind, kasi nabigla din ako, hindi naman na dapat ganoon.' Pareho naman kaming taga FEU ni Kuya Arwind, wala sa akin yun, wala sa amin yun."

Santos likewise wasted no time letting the incident go.

"Yun lang yun hindi siya aabot sa suntukan talaga," said Santos who had a big game for the Luzon All-Stars as well with 23 points. "Nabagsakan ko lang siya. Gumanti siya kaagad and then nag-sorry naman kami sa isa't isa."

Santos said he understood where Romeo is coming from considering that the 5-10 scoring machine was already in a zone at the time of the collision.

"Kahit papaano kahit sabihin mong All-Star game yan andun pa rin yung gusto mong manalo. Ayaw mo parin magpadaig," Santos said. "Hindi mo mapagkakailang maganda ang pinapakita ni Romeo, so machachallenge siya kahit papaano."
