Arellano routs Gilas U-16 team for third straight win in Fr. Martin's Cup

ARELLANO University, AMA Computer University, and Xavier School turned back separate rivals over the weekend to emerge unbeaten in the13th Fr. Martin Division 2 Cup basketball tournament.

Renz Luis Alcoriza fired 20 points for the Chiefs in their 86-66 stopping of the Gilas Pilipinas national under-16 team over at the Xavier School gymnasium in San Juan.

The win allowed the Chiefs to move ahead in Group A of the senior division with their third straight victory.

Later, Dave Ildefonso banged in 23 points for the GilasU16 squad as they bounced back with an 86-71 flogging of the Perpetual Help-Cavite Altas.

In the juniors division, Desmond Santos led with 26 points as the AMA Junior Titans swamped Philippine Cultural College, 89-50, over at the Arellano University gymnasium in Legarda, Manila.

Tyler Tio made 19 points in carrying the Xavier School Golden Stallions to an 88-57 crushing of the Mapua Red Robins for win no. 4 in Group B over at the St. Placid gymnasium inside the San Beda College-Manila campus in Mendiola.

In other senior matches, Ian Macaranas showed the way with 19 points for the AMA Computer University Titans, who put away Perpetual Help-Cavite, 83-61, to improve their Group A record to 2-1.

Atong Ular delivered 21 points for the Letran Knights, who waylaid Mary the Queen College, 85-75, and moved up in Group B with their 2-2 slate.

San Benildo prevailed over Holy Cross-Pampanga, 96-65, while Infant Jesus Academy drew 14 point from Jerome Ibay in edging the Arellano University Baby Chiefs, 76-68, in other junior games.
