ALVIN Patrimonio led the way for Filipino-Chinese Veterans Basketball Association (FCVBA) in a 77-49 rout of ZAAP-Thailand on Monday at the start of the 50-above tournament of the 25th Asean Veteran Basketball Tournament at the Chiang Kai Shek College Gym.

The four-time PBA Most Valuable Player had six points and 11 rebounds as he teamed up with longtime Purefoods frontline partner Jerry Codinera and other former PBA stars in opening FCVBA’s title-retention campaign on a high note.

The current Star Hotshots team manager also got support from Gerry Esplana, Bennett Palad, Tanduay Distillers president and chief executive officer Bong Tan, and Allan Caidic in the lopsided win in the annual event sponsored by Rain or Shine, Freego Jeans, Iconcon Builders and Philippine Airlines.

Esplana and Palad topscored for FCVBA with 10 points each, while Tan added nine points and five assists. Caidic also had nine points.

The FCVBA squad broke the game wide open in the third quarter when it outscored the Thais, 18-7, to grab a 47-28 advantage.
