Blue Eaglets, Magis Eagles down separate foes to set up all-Ateneo NBTC quarterfinal

ATENEO De Manila and Sacred Heart School-Ateneo De Cebu arranged a quarterfinal match after defeating separate rivals in the Exped SM-NBTC League Sweet 16 at the Mall of Asia Arena.

The Blue Eaglets beat AusPinoy Australia, 74-55, while the Magis Eagles upended Hope Christian High School, 70-63, in their Sweet 16 match.

No. 1 Ateneo and No. 8 Ateneo De Cebu will face off on Wednesday for a spot in the Final Four.

SJ Belangel had 15 points, while Kai Sotto added 14 points and 13 rebounds for the Blue Eaglets, who won in the first round by 51 points against New Ormoc CIty National High School.

Travis Mantua had 20 points, while Wilson Yu scored 14 points, as Alex Visser (10 points, 11 rebounds) and Eroll Pastor (10 points, 12 rebounds) had double-doubles for the Magis Eagles.

In other results, Gerry Abadiano had 13 points, while Cyril Gonzales had 12 points as No. 5 National University beat No. 12 Adamson, 98-74.

No. 6 Mapua-Malayan defeated No. 11 Durham Crossover Canada, 78-70, with Dan Arches topscoring for the Red Robins with 21 points. Clint Escamis had 14 points for Mapua.

Mapua spoiled the effort of Matthew Daves, who had 27 points, 12 rebounds, and two blocks for Durham Crossover.

Jade Talampas had 21 points and eight rebounds, while Yukien Andrada had 12 points and 11 rebounds as No. 7 San Beda beat No. 10 San Sebastian, 74-72.
