Adamson, San Sebastian set up showdown for HDBL 15-under title

ADAMSON-A and San Sebastian College-Recoletos trounced their respective rivals to forge a title duel in the 15-under division of the 2nd Headstart Developmental Basketball League (HDBL) Freego Kids Cup recently at the SGS Stadium in Quezon City.

SSC-R drew a rare triple-double performance from Francis Pagdanganan to down Chiang Kai Shek College, 79-61, while Adamson-A got another stellar performance from leading MVP candidate Adam Doria to beat Adamson-B, 77-59.

Doria finished with 14 points for the Tom Rodney Chua-mentored Adamson A. He was ably supported by Jefi Mailim who contributed 10 rebounds, eight points, four assists and four steals.

In the 12-under division of the tournament headed by Willy Chan, the Philippine team proved too strong for Pace-Gamboa Sports, 104-46, while the Pinoy Youth Dreamers of Coach Beaujing Acot outlasted SSC-R, 68-65.

Philippine team standout Kyle Rivera took the Freego Player of the Game after another stellar performance that saw him produce 21 points, 23 rebounds and 10 steals.

Jens Songsonga and Cobie Tolentino led the Pinoy Youth Dreamers by posting 17 and 13 points, respectively. Tolentino averaged 34 points in the team’s last two games in the tournament sponsored by Duralite and AXA Philippines and organized by Edster Sy.
