Adamson beats Chiang Kai Shek in overtime thriller for maiden PSSBC title

ADAMSON defeated Chiang Kai Shek College, 96-85, in overtime on Sunday in a thrilling conclusion to the 5th Philippine Secondary Schools Basketball Championship (PSSBC) MEC Networks Cup at the SGS Stadium in Quezon City.

Encho Serrano came away with 20 points, eight rebounds, and four assists while Gerry Austin Abadiano added 16 points as the Baby Falcons wrapped up a first-ever PSSBC title.

Adamson's win also marked the first time a UAAP team captured the tournament competed in by the top four schools from the UAAP, NCAA, and the Filipino Chinese Amateur Athletic Federation (FCAAF).

A 32-point effort by John Galinato went for naught as the Blue Dragons failed to defend the title in the tournament also backed by Ché Lu Bar & Grill, Dickies Underwear, Blackwater, Poly Gloss Automotive Polyurethane System, Ironcon Builders, Hapee Toothpaste and Freego.

Romuel Junsay had 28 points as the Mapua Red Robins beat La Salle Greenhills Greenies, 80-68, in the battle for third place.

Clint Escamis added 16 points and nine assists for the Red Robins.
