GILAS Pilipinas took care of business against Maldives, 21-16, and kicked off its campaign in the FIBA 3x3 Asia Cup on a winning note on Holy Thursday in Singapore.
The Filipinos found themselves trailing by two in the sixth minute mark, but outscored the opposition, 7-2, to finally take control of the game at the OCBC Arena, 16-13.

Jerrick Ahanmisi then buried a side floater to end the match with still 1:48 left on the clock.
Big man Sean Alter led the Philippine side with 11 points, followed by Ahanmisi with four, and Ralph Cu and Chris Koon added three each.
Gilas will now face regional rival Thailand later in the qualifying draw, as it eyes a berth into the pool play starting Friday.
