DEPLETED San-En NeoPhoenix remained at the cellar of the 2020-21 B.League after falling anew to the Toyama Grouses by 34 big points, 91-57, on Sunday at Toyama City Gymnasium.
Still fielding an all-local team, San-En once again lost grip of the game from the onset, trailing 28-9 in the opening frame and hardly stood any chance against a complete Toyama side.
Tatsuya Suzuki led the NeoPhoenix with 12 points, three steals, two rebounds, and two assists, while Atsuya Ota had 10 points and nine boards.
The two, unfortunately, never got any help from the rest of the team as it fell to 0-6.
San-En just shot 32 percent from the field, while Toyama shot an efficient 56-percent, including a blistering 11-of-24 shooting from deep, good for 46-percent.
Now at 0-6, the NeoPhoenix are looking to field their Serbian imports Stevan Jelovac and Nenad Miljenovic for their game against fellow cellardweller Shinshu Brave Warriors (0-6) on Wednesday at home at Toyohashi City General Gymnasium.
Thirdy Ravena, meanwhile, remains in the freezer as he awaits the end of his 14-day quarantine.
Zimbabwean import Julian Mavunga had a field day for Toyama with his 31 points, five rebounds, three blocks, and two assists as the team rose to 5-1.
Richard Solomon added a double-double of 19 points and 13 rebounds, Satoru Maeta shot a perfect 4-of-4 from deep to notch 15 points, and Yuta Okada nabbed 11 points and three assists.
