DEFENDING champion Philippine Merchant Marine School kept its hopes alive for a second straight National Capital Region Athletic Association (NCRAA) men’s basketball title.
Veteran cagers Elmar Moradas and Dan Reverente made it possible as they led the Mariners to a 72-65 triumph over the Olivarez College Sea Lions in Game Two of their best-of-three finals series at the Rizal Technological University gymnasium in Mandaluyong City.
Moradas and Reverente made their presence felt during a crucial third-quarter attack, which enabled the Mariners to equalize their title series with the Sea Lions at 1-all.
The Mariners earlier took a 62-68 setback from the Sea Lions in Game One.
The Mariners and Sea Lions shoot for the title in a winner-take-all Game Three on Monday at 10 a.m.
In the battle for third, Jopet Quiro and Rennel Montecillo tallied 18 and 15 points, respectively, for the Rizal Technological University Blue Thunder, who won over the La Salle-Dasmarinas Patriots, 87-64.
