Cesafi champion USC Warriors close in on NCC semis with squeaker over NU Bulldogs

SHOOSTER Olago hit a long jumper with 1.7 seconds left as Cesafi champion University of San Carlos beat National University, 73-72, on Monday at the FAITH gym in Tanauan City to move to the next round of the 2015 National Collegiate Championship.

The Cameroonian big man made the basket over NU’s Alfred Aroga. Matthew Aquino failed to make the Bulldogs’ final attempt of the game.

Charles Pepito added 16 points for the Warriors, who will face UAAP runner-up University of Santo Tomas on Tuesday at The Arena in San Juan. The winner will face UAAP champion Far Eastern University in the semifinal round of the tournament also known as Philippine Collegiate Championship League,

Technological Institute of the Philippines faces San Beda in the other match on Tuesday, with the winner taking on NCAA titlist Letran.

JJay Alejandro had 19 points, while Aroga had 16 markers for the Bulldogs.
