Bright Akhuetie powers West in wire-to-wire win over East in NCAA All-Star Game

THE West All-Stars beat the East All-Stars, 111-77, on Friday in the NCAA All-Star at the Filoil Flying V Centre in San Juan.

Bright Akhuetie of Perpetual Help was adjudged as the MVP of the match, after the Altas big man finished with a game-high 16 points and nine rebounds on his way to the individual plum.

“It’s All-Star. The main thing is they get a chance to play together and they have fun kasi hindi na uli mangyayari ‘yun,” said West coach Jamike Jarin.

“It’s for them, it’s for the fans, and it’s for the NCAA,” he added.

Led by Akhuetie, the West All-Stars led by as many as 35 points in the lopsided victory over the East stars.

Gab Dagangon of Perpetual Help had 14 points, while Kent Salado of Arellano chipped in 10 points for the West.

Donald Tankoua of San Beda had a double-double of 10 points and 11 rebounds, as Jio Jalalon added 10 points and six assists.

Jorem Morada of Emilio Aguinaldo College was the lone double digit scorer for the East with 13 markers.
