JRU Bombers down Stags at San Sebastian to stretch win streak to three games
Teytey Teodoro came through with a game-high 19 points for JRU. Dante Peralta

JOSE Rizal University raided San Sebastian in the Stags' own home floor, coming away with a 73-62 win on Thursday in the sixth match of the NCAA on Tour.

The win was the Bombers' third straight, rising to third place in the standings with a 5-3 record.

Tey Teodoro rediscovered his touch just at the right time for Jose Rizal as the sweet shooting lefty towed the Bombers to victory.

With the game tied at 58 with five minutes to play, Teodoro sparked a 15-4 rally by firing back-to-back three pointers to give the Bombers some breathing room.

The Stags never recovered from there as Ervin Grospe, Jed Mendoza and Razak Abdul Wahab hit huge baskets to frustrate the home squad,

"Again, ayun nga, hindi talaga ako natatakot sa kalaban, sa JRU ako natatakot. Sa amin talaga, on how we're gonna perform, ayun naman ang tinitignan ko palagi," said JRU head coach Vergel Meneses.

"We had a slow start, but we started to pick it up in the second quarter and regain our footing. Siguro ginanahan din ang mga players kasi nga, they're playing the home team," he added.

Teodoro finished with a game-high 19 points spiked by four triples in the match.

Abdul Wahab added 13 points as Grospe finished with 10 markers, six rebounds, two assists and a block.

Gio Lasquety also continued his stellar quarterbacking for the Bombers as he finished with nine assists to go along six boards and four points.

Defense was once again the Bombers' main weapon as they limited the Stags to just 62 points, less than a week after San Sebastian set the season scoring record in the league by dropping 101 points on the hapless College St. Benilde.

Taking advantage of the absence of star forward Michael Calisaan, they choked the life out of the Stags' offense, limiting the hosts to just 27.7 percent shooting, after hitting just 18-of-66 attempts.

Jayson David led the Stags with 18 points on 5-of-8 shooting from downtown but the Stags still dropped to fifth with a 4-5 record.
