Teodoro says listless performance by JRU bigs against hobbling Akhuetie got coach riled up

TEY Teodoro expressed frustration over Jose Rizal University’s loss to Perpetual Help on Friday that saw his 24-point effort going for naught.

Teodoro was left to carry the load for the Heavy Bombers by himself on Friday as he was the only double digit scorer for JRU in its 50-58 loss to the Altas, dropping them to 0-2 to start their NCAA Season 92 campaign.

Worse, JRU coach Vergel Meneses was visibly upset with the loss that he immediately left the dugout after lambasting his players for not playing with pride in what should have been a winnable game.

“Sana man lang nakaisa kami dun (na panalo). Nakakafrustrate lang ang game namin ngayon, sobrang galit na sa amin si coach kasi hindi niya expected ito,” said Teodoro.

Teodoro said Meneses got particularly mad about the performance of their bigs as they failed to contain Bright Akhuetie, who scored 19 points in his first game back from injury.

“Nagalit pa siya sa import namin kasi si Bright nga, may injury, si Bright pa ‘yung dahilan kung bakit kami talo,” he said.

Teodoro understands his head coach’s reaction, more so since they prepared well for the game against the Altas.

“Hindi lang niya ineexpect ‘yung nangyari sa loob,” said Teodoro. “Eto talaga handa kami kaso wala.” With Gabriel Pe
