IT SEEMS like San Miguel is all over Philippine basketball.

Just moments after its partnership with Alab Pilipinas was formally announced, signs point to the corporate giant forging a similar tie-up with multi-titled NCAA side Letran.

A photo of SMC sports director Alfrancis Chua together with Letran rector Fr. Clarence Marquez O.P. was posted by Letran's official Twitter account early Thursday sparked speculations of a team-up.

Letran officials remained mum on the extent of the 'support'  San Miguel is offering, but insiders revealed an official announcement will be made by the school in the next few weeks.

A source privy to the talks said the two parties are ironing out a long-term deal that will have San Miguel supporting Letran sports across the board - unlike in most set-ups where only basketball is backed.

Chua is also expected to play a huge part in the school's basketball program.

Chua and the SMC group were earlier involved in talks with University of Santo Tomas and it made sense considering the outspoken Ginebra governor traces his roots to Espana.

However, Chua also has close ties with Letran, having finished high school at the Intramuros school in 1985 where the current rector is a batchmate.

The Knights are expected to be strong contenders this coming NCAA season with Jeff Napa's recruits finally being eligible to join the core of Bong Quinto, Jeo Ambohot, JP Calvo and Jerrick Balanza.
