Eager to get a win streak going, San Sebastian Stags not taking it easy against five-man EAC Generals
Coach Topex Robinson and the San Sebastian Stags have a huge manpower advantage against the EAC Generals.

ALSO-ran San Sebastian tries to start a winning streak as it battles a depleted Emilio Aguinaldo College squad on Monday in the NCAA men’s basketball tournament at The Arena in San Juan.

Fresh from an 82-66 victory over Lyceum that snapped a 10-game skid, the Golden Stags hope to sustain the momentum late in the season that will see them miss the playoffs for the first time since 2008.

“We just want to finish this season on a winning form,” Stags coach Topex Robinson said.

The Stags have a huge advantage in the 5 p.m. encounter against a Generals side that only has five players available due to suspensions to the rest of the squad following a melee in a match against Mapua.

The Generals, who forfeited their last game against Perpetual Help, can now come up with the required five players as Faustine Pascual has served his one-game ban, joining Jerald Serrano, Christ Mejos, Ai Indin, and Jozhua General in the EAC lineup.

But Robinson is not taking them lightly in a match that will have no television coverage.

“We have no disrespect to the other team,” he said. “They could beat us if we’re not going to be ready.”

“Whether they’re only five there or they’re complete, we have to do the right thing and step up,” Robinson said.

Mapua, on the other hand, will forfeit its match against Letran for being unable to field at least five players due to ongoing suspensions to their own team.
