SAN Beda survived a shaky second half to beat pesky Emilio Aguinaldo College, 90-82, on Friday in the NCAA Season 92 seniors basketball tournament at the Filoil Flying V Centre.

The Red Lions remained on top of the team standings after winning their 10th game in 11 outings after losing Donald Tankoua early in the game due to a knee injury.

San Beda earned the victory after EAC was able to close the gap in the fourth quarter.

Davon Potts had 21 points, while Radge Tongco chipped in 12 points for the Red Lions.

But one notable performance came from Ben Adamos, who scored 11 points in 13 minutes in taking the cudgels after Tankoua got injured.

With the Generals only trailing by one, Adamos also hit a jumper—two of his seven points in the fourth—that put San Beda ahead, 80-77, before his teammates took over with AC Soberano hitting back-to-back triples to put the game away.

San Beda coach Jamike Jarin expected EAC to put up a challenge in the match.

“Everything is going to get tougher in the second round,” said Jarin. “If you look at the record of EAC, it doesn’t show how they are playing. They had a couple of close games.”

Sidney Onwubere had a monster game, contributing 19 points, 18 rebounds, and six blocks but EAC dropped to 3-8 despite leading by one point at the end of the third, 67-66.
