Teytey Teodoro and Abdoulad Poutouochi led the way down the stretch as JRU held on to repulse Lyceum, 68-58, in the Season 92 NCAA men's basketball tournament at the Filoil Flying V Centre on Friday.

Behind the combined efforts Teodoro and Poutouochi in the clutch, the Heavy Bombers pulled away and eventually tied Mapua at fourth place with identical 7-5 win-loss records.

Teodoro fired 21 points, including the dagger of a triple with 6.2 ticks to go, to finally stave off Lyceum's valiant stand led by Adrian Alban.

Helping Teodoro do damage in the fourth period was Poutouochi, who scored seven of his 14 points inside the final four minutes. Ervin Grospe also added 15 for the Heavy Bombers.

But while he was happy with the victory, JRU coach Vergel Menesses is pressing his wards to double their effort on defense.

"I wanna see more effort sa depensa namin," said the outspoken mentor.

Alban, meanwhile, was the lone bright spot for the Pirates. The lefty, who exploded for game-high 27 points, dropped 11 of the last 12 Lyceum points to help the team pull to within four, 62-58.

But his effort went for naught as Teodoro and Poutouochi sparked JRU's breakaway to seal the victory.

Mike Nzeusseu added 10 points and 17 rebounds for the Pirates, who fell to a 5-6 card.

The scores:
