TEYTEY Teodoro buried the game-winning basket for Jose Rizal University to give the Heavy Bombers a thrilling 70-69 win over Emilio Aguinaldo College on Thursday in the NCAA Season 92 men’s basketball tournament at the Filoil Flying V Centre.

Francis Munsayac helped EAC take the lead momentarily before Teodoro answered the call for JRU as he hit the fallaway jumper with 5.3 seconds left to play.

The Heavy Bombers raised their record to 2-3.

JRU coach Vergel Meneses, however, was still unsatisfied with the close victory over EAC that got the Heavy Bombers back on the winning track.

“Ugly win,” uttered Meneses as he entered the press room for the postmatch interview. “I don’t know what’s wrong. Sabi ko nga, maybe ‘yung effort tsaka ‘yung attitude. You can’t teach everything.”

Teodoro finished with 21 points in a hero’s role for the Heavy Bombers, including the go-ahead score as he eluded Munsayac before the ball trickled in.

“Buti nga pumasok pa. Papalabas na eh. It’s an ugly win but we will take it,” Meneses said.

Sidney Onwubere had 18 points and 19 rebounds, while Hamadou Laminou added 14 points, 14 rebounds, and eight blocks for the Generals, who led 59-58 on a basket by Munsayac with 11.1 seconds to play in the fourth only to be turned back by the clutch jumper of Teodoro.
