SAN Sebastian is evaluating all its options regarding the coaching vacancy in its men’s basketball team and is expected to name a new mentor in the first quarter of 2015.

SSC athletic director Reynold Munsayac declined to divulge the candidates for the position at the helm of the Golden Stags recently vacated by Topex Robinson, but bared the criteria for selection.

“Confidential muna yung pinagpipilian. Yun school board lang kasi makakapag-release ‘nun,” Munsayac told on Monday.

“Definitely, the school will soon be designating a coach who is dynamic enough to adapt to the present state of college basketball,” the lawyer added. “But at the same time modest enough to know that he will face great challenges in bringing glory back to the basketball program which is now undergoing major reformation.”

Robinson resigned late last month to give the school a free hand in the implementation of its sports programs after failing to lead the perennial postseason-contending Stags to the Final Four in Season 90, the first postseason-less stint since 2008.

“We want to thank him for his valuable service,” Munsayac said. "We know that he is destined for great things and we wish him all the best."

Robinson earlier bared ongoing negotiations between him and Lyceum on the possibility of him becoming the Pirates new coach to replace Bonnie Tan.
