Perfect starts at stake for San Beda, Mapua as they face tough foes in bid to stay atop NCAA
All's well for Allwell Oraeme's return to Mapua in their match against Arellano, says coach Atoy Co. Jaime Campos

SAN Beda and Mapua look to continue their winning ways as they face separate opponents on Tuesday in the NCAA Season 92 seniors basketball tournament at the Filoil Flying V Centre.

Both the Red Lions and Cardinals, however, will be tested against tough squads as Mapua battles Arellano at 2 p.m., while San Beda takes on Perpetual Help at 4 p.m. to highlight Tuesday’s tripleheader.

One thing going for San Beda is the possible return of Dan Sara, after the guard sat out the last two games due to a fractured finger he sustained during the league's break for the Fiba Olympic Qualifying Tournament earlier this month.

Despite Sara’s absence, the Red Lions remained unbeatable, winning over St. Benilde, 90-63, last week to improve its record to 4-0.

Mapua is also on a roll, winning its fourth straight contest after prevailing over Emilio Aguinaldo College, 70-67, even without reigning MVP Allwell Oraeme.

But coach Atoy Co told that Oraeme will be playing for the Cardinals against the Chiefs, who look to atone from its loss to Letran, 89-79, that snapped the preseason favorites' two-game winning start.

In the first game, Letran (3-1) goes for its fourth win against San Sebastian at 12 noon.

Standings: San Beda 4-0, Mapua 4-0, Letran 3-1, Arellano 2-1, Perpetual Help 2-1, San Sebastian 1-2, EAC 1-3, JRU 1-3, LPU 1-3, CSB 0-5.
