SAN Beda coach Boyet Fernandez is holding his breath over the health of star player Baser Amer, who suffered an apparent concussion during the Red Lions’ 53-64 loss to Letran in the NCAA men’s basketball tournament on Wednesday.

Fernandez is hoping for the best for his starting point guard, who didn’t play the whole fourth quarter after a collision with a Letran defender early in the third period.

Amer appeared fine after the incident and was actually recalled in the middle of the period, before the Davao native complained of dizziness, prompting him to be rushed to nearby Cardinal Santos hospital for checkup.

Fernandez followed Amer after the game, but still doesn't know if he will miss games.

The Lions, for sure, will miss in their next two games another playmaker in rookie Radge Tongco, who is part of the national team that will represent the country in the Fiba-Asia Under-18 championship next week in Qatar.

“I have a problem in the point guard position, but I know that Dan Sara and the rest of the guys will step up in the absence of the two," Fernandez said. "But I’m praying Baser will be okay in the next few days.”
