SAN Sebastian got back on track after escaping Emilio Aguinaldo College, 75-73, in the NCAA Season 93 men’s basketball tournament on Friday at the Filoil Flying V Center.

Stags star Michael Calisaan led the charge before getting ejected early in the fourth quarter due to multiple flagrant fouls. San Sebastian then turned to their backcourt of Ryan Costelo and Renzo Navarro to propel the Stags to their fourth win against four losses.

The two guards scored nine of the final 12 points for the Stags but had to hold their breaths collectively in the endgame as the Generals made one last rally, only to fall short after Jervin Guzman’s last-gasp basket rimmed out as time expired.

"I imagined na lahat ng games namin close, pero minsan kulang sa dulo. This time, buti naman, kami naman ang nanalo," said San Sebastian head coach Egay Macaraya.

"The good thing about this is sana tuloy-tuloy. Okay na this year 4-4 kami compared to isa lang last season," he added.

Calisaan still led the Stags with 19 points before being sent out, RK Ilagan added 12 while Costelo scored 10 of his 11 points in the fourth period.

Navarro, on the other hand, missed all of his four shots before the final 52 seconds where he racked up five straight points, including a slicing reverse lay-up with 13 seconds left to give the Stags 74-70 lead.

Sydney Onwubere played all 40 minutes for the Generals and finished with 22 points, 14 rebounds, five assists and five blocks as Francis Munsayac chipped in 16 and Guzman finished with 10.

The loss was the Generals' third straight defeat as they fell to seventh place with a 3-5 record.
