Former Batang Gilas member Peter Alfaro commits to play for San Beda Red Lions

REPAYING a debt of gratitude to San Beda, Peter Alfaro is preparing to play for the Red Lions in the after his stint with the Red Cubs.

One of the key players in the Red Cubs’ title runs in 2013 to 2016, the recruit from Zamboanga is eager to play under Boyet Fernandez.

“Malaki talaga utang na loob ko sa San Beda from coach JB (Sison) pa lang and other coaches namin,” said Alfaro.

“Knowing na I’m from Zamboanga, they gave me an opportunity to play here in Manila,” said Alfaro.

Alfaro was part of the Batang Gilas national team to the Seaba Under-19 tournament in 2016, and was named to the Mythical Five in the Palarong Pambansa in 2016 and NBTC in 2017.

His Red Cubs teammate Evan Nelle has also decided to play for the Lions.

The 5-foot-11 Alfaro was also thankful to Fernandez and team manager Jude Roque for the trust and confidence.

“I think sa San Beda talaga fit ‘yung style of play ko. I know that I’m in good hands because of the good coaches the Red Lions have. I believe na plan talaga ni God ito para sa akin to be able to study and play in a very good school.
