MARK Cruz said winning the NCAA Season 91 Finals MVP award is a big boost to his confidence as he makes the jump to the PBA.

The pint-sized guard showed a lot of heart in leading Letran to its first NCAA title in a decade, contributing 14 points, six rebounds, and seven assists in the Knights’ 85-82 overtime victory over San Beda in the title decider.

“Sobrang laki ‘to sa kumpiyansa ko,” said Cruz, who is now set to join a Star Hotshots side that picked in the fourth round of the last PBA rookie draft. “Sana talaga makatulong ako sa team.”

Cruz said the title puts a fitting end to his career with the Knights.

“Eto ‘yung pinakamasarap kasi nanalo kami ngayon," said the senior guard. "Three years kaming natalo sa San Beda pero now, nanalo kami.”

The Letran guard credited his teammates for their composure after winning the game despite losing an eight-point lead in the final two minutes of regulation.

“Na-pressure kami pero naging buo pa rin loob namin. Dumepensa kami at focus lang kami sa sinasabi ni coach,” said Cruz.
