Red Robins, Greenies battle for all the marbles in NCAA juniors title decider

MAPUA looks to match the league record for most juniors basketball titles as La Salle Greenhills  shoots for its first championship as the Red Robins and Greenies face off in Game Three of the NCAA juniors basketball tournament on Friday at the Filoil Arena in San Juan.

The Greenies won the series opener, 74-68, last week but the Robins bounced back strong and won Game Two, 91-81, setting up the decider at 3 p.m.

“We are determined to win everything in Game Three and we will give it our best to bring the title back to Mapua,” said Mapua coach Randy Alcantara.

Mapua ended a 16-year title drought by stunning San Beda last year, bagging its 21st title.

The Red Cubs hold the record with 22 juniors titles. The Junior Blazers, for their part, are going for their first ever juniors crown.

It will be Warren Bonifacio’s final high school game and the 19-year-old native of San Simon, Pampanga wants to make it count.

“I’m one of the nine graduating players and we want to play our last game by winning another championship,” said the Mapua star.
