Red Robins pull away in fourth against Greenies to march on to NCAA Season 92 juniors finals

MAPUA made its return to the finals after defeating College of Saint Benilde-La Salle Greenhills, 88-81, in the NCAA Season 92 juniors basketball on Friday at the Mall of Asia Arena.

Will Gozum had 16 points, while Romuel Junsay and Juaquin Garcia added 12 markers each for the second-seed Red Robins, who moved to the championship series for the second time in three years after missing out last season.

Mapua broke away from a 63-63 deadlock at the end of the third quarter with seven straight points. The Red Robins went on to build a 10-point lead, 83-73, on their way to the victory.

“Defense pa rin ‘yung key ng run namin. High percentage game ang gusto nila (LSGH) at na-stop namin sila,” said Mapua coach Randy Alcantara.

Michael Enriquez and Brian Lacap scored 11 points each, while Bryan Samudio added 10 markers and 17 rebounds in the Red Robins victory.

Unique Naboa scored 17 points but was saddled with four fouls in the game. Troy Mallillin had 16 markers and 22 rebounds, while Haribon Espinosa added 16 for the Greenies.
