MAPUA downed University of Perpetual Help System Dalta, 70-65, on Thursday in the NCAA Season 91 seniors basketball tournament at The Arena in San Juan.

Allwell Oraeme had 19 points for the Cardinals, who improved to 5-5 despite missing pro-bound Josan Nimes and CJ Isit due to injuries.

Mapua led 59-42 at the end of the third quarter and survived a fourth-quarter fightback by Perpetual Help.

The Altas squandered an opportunity to tie idle teams Letran and San Beda (8-2) at the top of the standings to fall to 7-3 win-loss.

Bright Akhuetie had 18 points while Scottie Thompson, fresh from being picked by Barangay Ginebra in the PBA draft over the weekend, added 14 markers for the Altas.
