MAPUA nearly squandered a 43-point first half before beating Lyceum, 109-95, on Friday in the NCAA Season 91 seniors basketball tournament at The Arena in San Juan.

Allwell Oraeme had 26 points, 20 rebounds, and five blocks while Josan Nimes added 24 points for the Cardinals, who improved their record to 3-3 (win-loss).

The story of the game, however, was how the Cardinals saw their 64-21 first half lead cut down to seven points in the final period before surviving - but barely.

Mapua coach Atoy Co was also ejected from the match after taking off his shirt and waving it infront of the Cardinals bench to express his frustration over the referees' calls.

“To tell you the truth, I don’t know what happened. I don’t know what hit us. I’m just happy we came out with the win,” said Nimes.

Shaq Alanes had 27 points for the Pirates, who dipped to 1-5 but nevertheless appeared to have the .
