Red Robins coach glad to have extra time to prepare for match against streaking Greenies

MAPUA juniors coach Randy Alcantarais not surprised with La Salle Greenhills’ solid start, and he is glad to have more time to prepare before the Red Robins and Greenies clash in the NCAA Season 93 juniors basketball.

The Robins and Greenies share the early lead, both with three wins in three games, and will not meet until Aug. 8.

Alcantara said facing LSGH late in the first round will be beneficial for the defending champions.

"Siguro pabor sa amin. (Weeks preparation) pa para sa San Beda at (La Salle) Greenhills," Alcantara said.

The Junior Blazers are on a fine start and has over many-time juniors champion San Beda.

"Expected ko na 'yun kasi nung summer, talagang sila rin ang mahigpit naming kalaban, nadagdagan pa sila," said Alcantara.

Showing the way for CSB is Inand Fornillos, a transferee from University of Santo Tomas, averaging 16 points, 13.3 rebounds, and 3.7 blocks for the Junior Blazers in the first three games of the season.

Also performing well for LSGH is former San Beda Red Cub Albert Bordeos with 10.7 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 2.7 assists.

Holdover Joel Cagulangan averaged 16 points, 5.7 rebounds, 5.0 assists, and 1.7 steals for LSGH.

"Alam ko maganda ang line-up at maganda ilalaro ng Greenhills ngayon," Alcantara said.

The Red Robins are also putting up good numbers, Will Gozum contributing 14.5 points, 15.0 rebounds, and 2.0 blocks.

Clint Escamis is also a force for Mapua-Malayan, with 14.5 points, 8.0 rebounds, 6.5 assists, and 3.0 steals in three games.
