Mapua beats JRU to take solo second place in the NCAA juniors

MAPUA beat Jose Rizal University, 87-39, on Tuesday to take solo second place in the NCAA Season 91 juniors basketball tournament at the Filoil Flying V Arena in San Juan.

Jasper Salenga had 24 points and 12 rebounds for the Red Robins, who improved their record to 7-1 behind idle San Beda (7-0).

The Red Robins outscored the Light Bombers, 24-7, in the first quarter and 23-6, in the third.

Emilio Aguinaldo College beat University of Perpetual Help, 88-82, to even its record to 4-4.

Kerby Dulatre had 19 points and nine rebounds, while Mark Castillo added 18 points for the Brigadiers, who are now in a tie for fifth place with College of Saint Benilde.

The Altalettes and the Light Bombers remained winless in eight matches.

Standings: San Beda 7-0, Mapua 7-1, Arellano 6-1, Lyceum 5-3, CSB 4-4, EAC 4-4, San Sebastian 3-5, Letran 3-5, JRU 0-8, Perpetual 0-8.
