MCLAUDE Guadana and Chester Jungco scored 16 points each as Lyceum defeated La Salle Greenhills, 82-77, on Thursday in the NCAA Season 92 juniors basketball tournament at The Arena in San Juan.

Vincent Cunanan added 14 as the Junior Pirates evened their win-loss record to 3-3, same as the records of the Greenies, Letran Squires, Perpetual Baby Altas and Jose Rizal University Light Bombers.

“We really needed the win, we really wanted to get to the top four. That’s the goal this year,” said Junior Pirates mentor LA Mumar.

It was the first game this season the Junior Pirates played with a full squad with the return of Junjun Cecilio and Makki Santos from injury layoffs.

“We started off with a lot of injuries. This is the first time in three games that we were complete, we really needed this win para makaabot sa top four,” Mumar said.

Troy Mallinllin led the Greenies with 24 points and 10 boards.

The Junior Pirates will next face leader Arellano (6-0) on Monday and coach Mumar is eager to test his wards.

“We want the challenge. We know we can. We will do our best. Kumbaga, basta ma-try namin. We’re starting our program pa lang. These are bigger schools. Lalaban kami. Basta we’ll do our best.”

JRU dominated Emilio Aguinaldo College, 85-67, for a 3-3 record while keeping the Brigadiers winless.
