LA SALLE Greenhills escaped with a 64-63 win over Letran on Thursday to keep its unbeaten slate in the NCAA Season 93 juniors basketball tournament at the Letran gym.

The Greenies survived the final 3.1 seconds of the match as Neil Tolentino missed a lay-up and David Culanay also failing to convert a putback at the buzzer.

With the second consecutive one-point victory, the Greenies upped their record to 5-0 but not before a few anxious moments.

Inand Fornillos' putback with 2:50 left in the fourth gave LSGH a 64-59 lead but it was the last time the Greenies scored in the match.

"We just got lucky," said College of Saint Benilde-LSGH coach Marvin Bienvenida. "But prior to that, we placed ourselves in that situation that we had to just bank on with just one point. We just had opportunities of securing and putting that lead some more with the free throws."

The Squires dropped to 2-4 following the tight loss.

Albert Bordeos topscored for LSGH with 14 points but missed two free throws and slapped with an offensive foul with 3.1 seconds left that gave Letran another chance.

LSGH was coming off an 88-87 win over Lyceum on Tuesday.

Jacob Lao had 12 points, while Fornillos added nine points and eight rebounds but LSGH's top big man was saddled with foul troubles all game.

Enoch Valdez had 17 points and 14 rebounds, while Kiefer Cordero finished with 11 points including a lay-up with 48.3 seconds left in the game that cut LSGH's lead to one point, 64-63.
