La Salle Greenhils crowned first ever NCAA under-14 basketball champion
The victorious La Salle Greenhills cage team shortly after ruling the first ever NCAA 14-under basketball tournament.

LA Salle Greenhills claimed the 1st National Collegiate Athletic Association 14-under basketball tournament title following an eight-game sweep of the tournament recently at the Letran College gym.

The Greenies swept their six-game elimination round assignment, beating rivals from Emilio Aguinaldo College, San Sebastian, Arellano University, Mapua, Letran, and San Beda.

In the semis, the Greenies led by more than 30 points in beating the Letran Squires, before similarly routing the Red Cubs in the finals.

Point guard Joel Diomar Cagulangan was adjudged finals MVP.

Cagulangan was also named part of the Mythical Five along with teammates Joshua Marcos and  Harribon Espinosa.

Following the title conquest, head coach Marvin Bienvenida believes the Greenies  will be the team to watch out 2 years from now in the NCAA juniors.

“La Salle Greenhills never won an NCAA junior basketball title. This is the first and they are giving a statement that they are the team to watch out,” said Bienvenida.

Other key players for the team include gunner Jacob Lao, Carlo Lim, Vince Guste, Sebastian Locsin, son of former PBA player Noli Locsin, Talk `N Text guard Ryan Reyes’ kid Jaylen Reyes, Venjho Maximo, Sael Lim, AJ Javier, and Paolo Calingin.
