The Mapua Cardinals hope to get another big game from Josan Nimes. Jerome Ascano

JOSE Rizal University and Mapua look to catch up with the top four teams when the Bombers and Cardinals clash on Tuesday in the NCAA Season 91 seniors basketball tournament at The Arena in San Juan.

The match starts at 2 p.m.

In joint fifth place with identical 6-5 win-loss slates, the Cardinals look to move closer to the top four.

Letran and San Beda hold 10-2 records, while in joint third are Perpetual Help and Arellano at 8-4.

The Cardinals are on a two-game winning run, including an 87-78 victory over San Sebastian last week, as they welcomed the return of Josan Nimes from injury. The PBA-bound Nimes scored 18 points for Mapua.

In the second game, Arellano shoots for its third straight win when it faces struggling Lyceum at 4 p.m.

Jiovani Jalalon spearheaded the Chiefs against Perpetual Help, posting 32 points, 10 rebounds, and 15 assists in an 84-77 overtime victory last week.

A win by Arellano will push them to solo third behind leaders Letran and San Beda, both at 10-2.

The Pirates, with 3-9 slate, gets a boost as big man Joseph Gabayni is expected to return to the court after a school-imposed suspension.
