PAOLO Pontejos had 21 points as Jose Rizal University beat Emilio Aguinaldo College, 87-64, on Friday in the NCAA Season 91 seniors basketball tournament at The Arena in San Juan.

The wire-to-wire win was the Heavy Bombers' seventh in 13 outings for solo sixth in the team standings as they bounced back from a sorry loss to Mapua earlier this week.

JRU, however, is still two games behind Arellano and Perpetual Help, which stunned San Beda, 88-86, last Thursday for a 9-4 win-loss record.

“’Yung mga resulta ng mga games, hindi kami natutulungan,” said JRU coach Vergel Meneses. “Like yesterday, upset win by Perpetual. May chance pa naman kami. Ang iniisip na lang namin, one game at a time. Malay natin, maka-straight kami.”

Tey Teodoro and John Grospe had 13 points each while Mark Cruz tallied 11 points and six rebounds for the Heavy Bombers, who started the game with a 10-0 run and never looked back.

Sidney Onwubere had 21 points for the Generals, who slipped to 2-11.
