IT was Jonathan Grey’s way of thanking St. Benilde for all the years he played for the school.

The Blazer star player registered a near triple-double in the team’s 81-57 rout of Emilio Aguinaldo College on Friday in Season 91 of the NCAA seniors basketball tournament at The Arena in San Juan.

Grey had 12 points, nine rebounds, and dished off 10 of the team’s 24 assists in 23 minutes of play.

“Iniisip ko lang paano ako makakapagpasalamat sa school ko,” he said. “Kaya ibibigay ko na ang best ko,” he said.

Grey vows to be even better in the Blazers’ remaining games this season in the hope of lifting the team past its current spot at seventh place where it is tied with San Sebastian and Lyceum.

“I just play to win and gusto ko yung teammates ko magtiwala sa sarili nila kaya pinapasahan ko sila ng pinapasahan,” he said. “And ‘yung rebound gusto ko lang manalo.”

Coach Gabby was pleased to see his team, especially Grey, put a lot of effort from practice to actual games.

“I can really see that they try their best to make the adjustments and hopefully magtuluy-tuloy na,” he said.
