A COURAGEOUS College of St. Benilde showed up in the payoff period to end a four-game slide in the NCAA Season 93 with a 74-69 win over Mapua University on Tuesday at the Filoil Flying V Center.

It was the Blazers’ first win inside the court after getting rewarded with a season-opening victory in the board room at the expense of Perpetual Help.

The Blazers, though, looked like they were on the verge of another blowout loss with the Cardinals threatening to pull away entering the fourth.

Down 61-52, CSB turned to JJ Domingo and Edward Dixon, who gladly obliged by conspiring to lead their comeback.

A three-point play by Dixon gave the Blazers for good, 65-64, before Domingo put the finishing touches in the end.

The Cardinals had a chance to win or send the game to overtime, but JR Raflores made a head-scratching crucial turnover when he passed the ball to the referee with 22 seconds left in the game.

Fittingly, Domingo and Dixon wrapped things up with foul shots as they improved to 2-4 for the season.

"I'm just super happy and super enthusiastic right now. Tanggal lahat ng pagod. It's been awhile since we won a game, it may be about nine or 10 games," said head coach TY Tang.

"It's really the character that we're trying to build up. We're slowly getting there," he added.

Domingo paced the Blazers on offense, firing 24 points on 10-14 shooting in the win while Dixon scored 10, most of which coming in the fourth.

Clement Leutcheu also came back from a bad fall in the third to finish with 14 points and 17 rebounds as Carlo Young had 13 before being ejected following an unsportsmanlike foul on Raflores.

Christian Bunag paced the Cardinals with 13 points, 11 rebounds and three blocks as they were left in the cellar with a 1-5 record.
