JP Calvo continued his stellar play on Thursday, only this time it finally translated into a victory for Letran in the NCAA Season 93 basketball wars.

Calvo scored 20 points including a 4-of-6 clip from three-point range to lift the Knights to an 84-73 win over Arellano. The win snapped Letran's three-game slump.

The Letran guard has scored 20 or more points for three consecutive matches already, but is now happy that his effort finally led to a win.

"Siguro inensayo ko lang mga kulang ko at mga kailangan kong gawin sa court," said Calvo,. "Focus lang ko lagi na kailangan ko i-lead 'yung team para manalo."

For this game though, Calvo and the rest of the Knights were so determined to halt their slide that the players met with each other in order to talk about what needed to be addressed.

"After nung natalo kami nung last game namin, talagang inayos namin. Nag-usap usap kami kung ano kailangan gawin at ayusin ang kung anong role namin. Ayun, umayos naman 'yung laro namin,” he said.

"Hinuddle namin lahat. Ako, si Rey (Nambatac), Jerrick (Balanza), at si Bong (Quinto) at nag-usap usap kami na kailangan namin mag-give way sa isa't isa para tumakbo kami ng maayos as a team," added Calvo, who trained under the wings of trainer Nicolo Chua during the offseason.

Letran coach Jeff Napa lauded the play of Calvo, who is now starting to get his groove this season.

"Consistent naman si JP. Although we lost nung past few games, nakuha na niya 'yung timing," said Napa.

Napa also noted Calvo's lead in sticking to the system, which other players are also emulating particularly in the match against Arellano.

"Nagiistick lang siya sa game plan. 'Yung others kailangan sumunod. Good thing sumunod 'yung iba. Naging magandang resulta para sa amin," said Napa.
