Javee Mocon eager to give Lyceum dose of own medicine: 'We want to sweep them sa Finals'

SAN Beda veteran Javee Mocon believes that there’s no better way to score a payback on Lyceum than sweeping the best-of-three championship series in the NCAA Season 93 men’s basketball tournament.

Mocon was itching to give the Pirates a dose of their own medicine after the Intramuros-based squad cruised to an 18-0 run, and sweeping both meetings with the Red Lions, in the elimination round.

The Red Lions got a taste of payback with a 94-87 victory in the series opener on Friday at the Araneta Coliseum to move a win closer to a Finals sweep. Mocon wants nothing less than to bring home the title as early as Thursday.

“Oo naman (I want payback), sila lang nakatalo sa amin twice, nasweep nila ang elimination so kami naman we want to sweep them sa Finals,” said Mocon, who scored 11 points and nine rebounds in 29 minutes of play.

The motivation to defeat Lyceum became more intense after the Pirates became the talk of the town.

“We want to show everybody that we are the best team, kasi lahat pinag-uusapan sila eh kami naman okay lang, low key lang,” said Mocon.

“We want to show everybody ‘di kami mag-ba-back down kahit na-sweep nila ang eliminations,” he added.

San Beda, however, will have to wait six more days before it faces Lyceum in Game Two, which is on November 16 also at the Big Dome.
