Sky's the limit for top LSGH rookie Inand Fornillos, says coach

COACH Marvin Bienvenida admitted La Salle Greenhills had been expecting to rise as title contender in 2018 yet, until it acquired Inand Fornillos.

Joel Cagulangan and Joshua David are promising talents that were deemed to be still a bit green to dominate Season 93.

But the addition of Fornillos, a 6-foot-2 big who played for University of Santo Tomas last year, gave the Greenies the boost they needed in terms of size and energy.

“Honestly, when I started handling this, ang hinihintay namin is next season... Luckily, we got some key recruits,” said Bienvenida.

“I think he was the best recruit this season,” said Bienvenida. “Really a prized rookie.”

Fornillos won the Rookie of the Year honors after averaging 12.8 points, 11.7 rebounds and 2.0 blocks for the Greenies this season.

The Greenies went 11-7 in the elimination round, beat San Sebastian in a playoff game for fourth spot, and beat top-seed San Beda in the Final Four.

The Greenies dethroned Mapua in Game Three of the best-of-three finals with a thrilling 75-74 win with Fornilos finishing with six points and nine rebounds.

The sky is the limit for Fornilos, according to Bienvenida.

“Iba ‘yung binibigay niya. Ang kagandahan pa nun, natutunan din namin. He’s very raw what he has right now,” said Bienvenida.
